DARREN EARL BECKER

Darren Earl Becker was born on February 10, 1966, and passed peacefully on December 8, 2025.

Darren was taken from us far too soon, and his memory will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.

From a young age, Darren had a deep love of sports. An avid collector of autographs and memorabilia, Darren’s passion naturally led him into a remarkable career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Darren was highly respected and a valued member of the organization.

His career also led him to work with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Scottish Claymores.

After his time in professional football, Darren returned to his roots and worked at the family business, Selkirk Book Exchange. Over the years, he formed countless friendships, as customers quickly became friends. Darren had a gift for connecting with people, and his kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who walked through the bookstore doors.

Darren had a true love for gardening and took great pride in what he grew. He loved to cook as much as he loved to garden. Darren's kitchen was often alive with music playing as he experimented with yet another creation. Sharing his creations with family, friends, and neighbors brought Darren immense joy.

Darren's deep love for all animals, especially cats, showed in his care and compassion from building shelters and rescuing strays, always ensured they were cared for and safe.

Known for his gentle spirit and warm heart, Darren was kind to everyone he encountered. He was a devoted and loving father, a truly loyal friend, and someone you could always count on.

Darren is survived by his son, Tayler; his beloved mother, Donna; his brother, Ryan; his nephew, Arian; his niece, Keana; his dear friend Jennifer, and her daughters, Alli and Victoria.

He will be fondly remembered by the many friends he made, and his memory will continue to be kept alive by all who were fortunate enough to be part of his journey.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Condolences Donna and Ryan and family, so sorry for your loss. So many memories growing up, watching Darren and Richie play hockey, and all the get togethers afterwards. Rest in Peace Darren - Posted by: Candace Skromeda (Friend) on: Jan 12, 2026

  • I played slo-pitch with Darren back in the early 90’s. Such a great teammate, always supportive and encouraging. At the Bomber games I worked the field gate by the locker room and Darren always made sure that on the cold days there would be a hot cup of soup or whatever they were making for the players at halftime. He will be missed. - Posted by: Michele Chartrand (Former teammate and co-worker) on: Jan 12, 2026

  • Darren truly was a wonderful friend. He was incredibly generous, most especially with his time. His door was always open, whether it was to chat about sports, collecting, life, or to bring my children over so they could play with the cats. My life has truly been enriched by having Darren as a friend. I will miss you always. - Posted by: John Sawicz (Friend) on: Jan 11, 2026

I last visited Darren at his home on November 8th & could never have imagined that it would be the last time that I'd see or hear from him.
